Diagnosis is by GP, neurologist
The commonest reoccurring headache is migraine which lasts between 4 and 48 hours. It is often throbbing and affects just one side of the head. You can experience vomiting and sensitivity to light and smells. At its worst your vision is affected with flashing lights and blindness, speech problems and tingling in the face or fingertips.
About one fifth of people with migraine seeking advice believe that cheese and chocolate and alcohol can trigger attacks. Food allergy testing can help.
